        “Russia must answer for its crimes” — Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof in Kiev

        President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof to discuss Ukraine’s defense support, the strengthening of sanctions, and legal mechanisms to hold Russia accountable. The meeting was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

        Prime Minister Schoof emphasized that Russia shows no intention of achieving a just and lasting peace. On the contrary, he said, it continues to intensify its attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. Schoof added that Russia must be held accountable for its crimes.

        During the meeting, the leaders also discussed:

        • strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation;
        • legal mechanisms to ensure the prosecution of war criminals;
        • defense cooperation, including the Netherlands’ participation in programs such as PURL, F-16, and Patriot air defense systems;
        • providing energy assistance to Ukraine amid Russian strikes on its energy infrastructure.

        President Zelenskyy thanked the Netherlands for its consistent support and stressed that legislative and legal measures to hold Russia accountable must remain an integral part of international partnership efforts.
