As a result of a massive Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy and civilian infrastructure, emergency power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv and the surrounding region. As of 15:00, over 500,000 consumers remain without power, according to Artem Nekrasov.
According to him, during the night and throughout the day, the enemy used nearly 500 strike drones and about 40 missiles, including the Kinzhal type, hitting power generation, transmission and distribution facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
As a result of the shelling, substations, overhead power lines and individual power generation facilities were significantly damaged. In most regions of Ukraine, hourly power cuts and power restrictions for industry and business continue to be in effect. More than 22,000 subscribers remain without power in the Chernihiv region.
Nekrasov noted that Ukraine’s integrated power system remains intact and operates in parallel with the power system of continental Europe. Electricity imports and consumption restrictions are being used to maintain balance. The restoration of electricity and heat supply has already begun, but the work is being hampered by constant air raid alerts.
