Naim Kassem has been appointed as the new leader of the Hezbollah group, replacing the murdered Hassan Nasrallah.

This was reported by Al Jazeera.

In a statement, the Hezbollah group said that Kassem was elected to this position because of his “commitment to the principles and goals of Hezbollah.” Kassem, 71, has been Nasrallah’s deputy for more than 30 years.

The leader and one of the founders of the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, who had led it since 1992, was killed on September 27 as a result of an Israeli strike on Beirut.
