        Major Russian oil refinery supplying fuel to Russian army hit

        On the night of August 22, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck facilities at the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region. A fire broke out at the plant following the strike.

        The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.

        The General Staff said the extent of the damage to the facility is currently being assessed.

        The Novokuibyshevsk refinery is part of Rosneft and is one of Russia’s largest oil refining facilities.

        The plant has a processing capacity of about 8.8 million tonnes of oil per year. It produces more than 20 types of products, including motor and aviation fuel, diesel, and lubricant components.

        According to the General Staff, the refinery’s products are used to meet the needs of the Russian armed forces.
