Law enforcers detain Armed Forces officials who “overpaid” UAH 27 million for procurement of aircraft spare parts

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed two officials of the Logistics Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on fraudulent procurement of spare parts for combat aircraft, which resulted in an “overpayment” of UAH 27 million.

According to the investigation, the heads of two divisions of the Central Aviation and Air Defense Support Directorate organized the procurement of aircraft parts at inflated prices in 2022-2023. Deliveries were made through an intermediary company that won the tender due to the created appearance of competition. For this purpose, several affiliated entities were involved, including those with foreign registration.

The resulting “excess profits” were shadowed through a network of controlled companies. The losses to the state budget are estimated at over UAH 27 million.

The suspects face up to six years in prison. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided.
