On October 10, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region following a Russian strike on energy infrastructure. A loss of power temporarily halted metro train services and escalators in the capital, disrupted surface electric public transport in several districts, and caused interruptions to the water supply.

This was reported by Suspilne Kyiv, citing DTEK, the Kyiv City State Administration, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

According to Klitschko, the capital’s electricity supply situation deteriorated after an energy facility in the Kyiv region was damaged.

“Damage to an energy facility in the Kyiv region has worsened the electricity supply situation in the capital. The city is also experiencing water supply disruptions. Specialists are working to restore water service,” the mayor said.

Where Public Transport Has Been Suspended

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, surface electric public transport services have been temporarily suspended in the Holosiivskyi district, as well as in parts of the Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Pecherskyi districts of Kyiv due to power outages.

In addition, the Kyiv Metro temporarily suspended operations after losing power from external supply sources.

Both train services and escalator operations have been halted.

Emergency Power Outages in the Kyiv Region

According to DTEK, emergency power outages have been introduced in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region following Russian strikes on energy facilities.

Meanwhile, scheduled power cuts affecting all consumer groups are planned for October 10 across the Kyiv region. Energy providers have published the relevant schedules.

Hourly power outage schedules will also be in effect in several other Ukrainian regions, affecting households, businesses, and industrial facilities.

The restrictions are a consequence of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Where Kyiv Residents Can Charge Their Phones and Check Outage Schedules

To assist residents of the capital, Points of Invincibility were set up the previous day in the Obolonskyi, Podilskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts.

People can charge mobile phones, power banks, and other electronic devices at these locations. Their addresses are available on district administration websites.

In addition, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has deployed emergency assistance tents in the Obolonskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Podilskyi districts, where residents can charge their devices and access Wi-Fi.

Kyiv residents can check electricity outage schedules for their specific addresses through the DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks chatbot or website, the Kyiv Digital app, as well as the YASNO website and YASNO Mobile app.
