Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has called “untrue” information by The Wall Street Journal newspaper that Vladimir Putin maintains regular contacts with US businessman Elon Musk.
“No, this is all untrue. That is, this is absolutely false information published in The Wall Street Journal newspaper,” a Kremlin spokesman said at a briefing.
According to WSJ, the Russian president has been in regular contact with the head of SpaceX, Tesla and X since the end of 2022, discussing personal topics, business and geopolitical tensions. Thus, one of the publication’s sources said that in late 2023, Putin asked Musk not to activate Starlink over Taiwan as a favor to Beijing.
Conversations between Putin and Musk, the publication says, continued in 2024, when the businessman began to criticize the U.S. authorities for military aid to Ukraine and became involved in Donald Trump’s election campaign.
