In Kharkiv, 26 buildings damaged by Russian shelling have been recognized as beyond repair. They are to be demolished and replaced with new ones.
Mayor Igor Terekhov said this during the telethon.
“This year we set a goal to rebuild about 100 houses, and almost all the work is planned to be completed by the end of the year. But this is not enough, and we realize that. That is why we will continue to rebuild residential buildings, including those that have suffered very serious damage,” the mayor said.
Terekhov also noted that people are used to the neighborhoods where they used to live because they were equipped with everything they needed – playgrounds, schools and stadiums. To preserve these amenities for residents, new high-rise buildings will be built on the site of the destroyed houses.
