On August 17, a private Bell 206 helicopter crashed on the Greek island of Sifnos. Three people were killed in the crash.

According to the fire service, the helicopter crashed in the Tholos area, where the island’s helipad is located. A fire broke out at the scene immediately after the crash.
During the firefighting operation, rescuers found the burned bodies of the three victims. According to preliminary information, they were two men and one woman.
The Bell 206 helicopter took off from Markopoulo and was heading to Sifnos. During its approach to land, it crashed a short distance from the helipad.
The deputy mayor of Sifnos told ERT News, citing local residents, that they heard a loud noise a few seconds before the helicopter crashed. No further information about the circumstances of the crash is currently available.
According to the fire service, the operations center was notified of the incident at 18:17 on August 17. Two firefighters and one vehicle were working at the scene. A rescue team also departed from the island of Syros for Sifnos aboard a RAFNAR high-speed boat operated by the fire service.
