        Gripen jets, drones and new weapons: Zelenskyy sums up results of visit to Sweden

        Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a new $2.7 billion aid package from Sweden that will include Gripen fighter jets, weapons and funding for drone production. The agreements were reached during a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at the Uppsala military base.

        This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

        The aid package includes nearly $400 million for drone production, while more than $2 billion is allocated specifically for combat aviation.

        “We reached agreements in December. And today we already have a decision regarding combat aviation. Swedish combat aircraft that will definitely strengthen our air fleet and our air defense,” the president said.

        He noted that Ukraine expects to receive the first Gripen fighter jets within the next ten months.

        According to Zelenskyy, the aircraft will arrive together with a weapons package and will help defend against Russian guided aerial bombs. The agreement concerns the transfer of a Gripen squadron to Ukraine.

        Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Ukraine will gradually purchase about 150 Gripen fighter jets, including new modifications.

        In addition, Ukraine will work with European partners to strengthen anti-ballistic defense, particularly within the NB8 format.
