Units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck two oil refineries in Russia on Sept. 21 and overnight into Sept. 22 — the Bashneft-UNPZ refinery in Ufa and the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara. Fires were recorded at both facilities.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
The Bashneft-UNPZ oil refinery in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, was hit. According to the General Staff, its processing capacity is about 7.5 million tonnes of oil per year.
The facility carries out deep oil refining and produces gasoline, diesel and boiler fuel, liquefied gases, sulfur and other petroleum products.
The Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara was also hit. A fire also broke out on the premises of the facility.
The Kuibyshev refinery is part of Rosneft, and its processing capacity is about 7 million tonnes of oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil and more than 30 other types of petroleum products.
The products of both refineries are used to meet the needs of the Russian army.
