On August 18, a drone exploded at a bus stop for staff near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. As a result of the incident, 16 employees and contractors were injured and one person was killed.

This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The explosion occurred today at around 06:00. The ZNPP Director informed the agency’s team that this was the most serious incident the plant had faced.

The IAEA was also informed of attacks in the industrial area of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. At the same time, no damage that could affect nuclear safety was reported.

“I call on the military commanders responsible for these actions, as well as all those carrying out attacks on nuclear power plants and/or their personnel, to immediately stop these unacceptable actions, which create major risks to nuclear safety,” IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
