Ukraine’s Defense Forces have formed a temporary “Azov” troop grouping, which will be led by the commander of the namesake National Guard corps, Brigadier General Denys “Redis” Prokopenko.
This was announced by the 1st National Guard Corps “Azov”.
The announcement of the “Azov” grouping came alongside news of the formation of the “Center” troop grouping, which will be led by Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi, commander of the 3rd Army Corps.
President Zelenskyy had announced plans to form two large troop groupings on August 26.
The decision was made in coordination with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, the General Staff and Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara.
