On the night of 1 December, Russia launched a massive air attack on Ukraine, using 78 Shahed attack drones and unidentified drones. The attack was carried out from the directions of Kursk, Orel and Bryansk, according to the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
Air defences were deployed in six regions: Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy and Poltava.
Anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the attacks.
As of 09:00, the following were destroyed:
- 32 enemy drones;
- 45 drones lost communication, presumably due to electronic warfare systems.
One more drone is still in the air.
Information on the consequences of the attack and the number of drones downed is being clarified.
