Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed he’s ready to work for peace and announced a meeting in Washington. He shared this on social media.

He reported on a lengthy conversation with US President Donald Trump, which took place after the American leader’s summit with Putin in Alaska.

According to Zelensky, the conversation with Trump lasted more than an hour and a half, of which about an hour was spent talking one-on-one, and later European leaders joined the conversation. The Ukrainian president noted that Washington had informed him of the main points of the meeting with Putin.

‘Ukraine once again confirms that it is ready to work as productively as possible for the sake of peace. President Trump informed me about his meeting with the Russian leader and the main points of the conversation. It is important that America’s strength influences the development of the situation,’ Zelensky emphasised.

He stated that Ukraine supports Trump’s proposal to hold a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia. Zelensky emphasised that key issues can be discussed at the leadership level.

The president also announced that he plans to meet with Trump in Washington on Monday to further discuss details related to ending the war.

Zelensky emphasised the need for European partners to participate at all stages to ensure a reliable security system together with the US. He also noted positive signals from Washington regarding its readiness to participate in ensuring security for Ukraine.

Recall that Trump was unable to obtain any commitments from Putin to end the war in Ukraine after the summit in Alaska on 15 August. Before the talks, Trump said he would demand that Putin cease fire in Ukraine. However, he left Alaska without any concessions from the Russian president, who made it clear that he had not abandoned his tough demands for Ukraine’s surrender.
