Associated Press journalists have obtained a video of another execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war. The war crime, according to preliminary information, took place in the village of Pyatikhatky, Zaporizhzhia region.
According to Associated Press, there are two videos, one of which was filmed by a Ukrainian drone and the other by a Russian drone.
One of the videos shows Ukrainian soldiers coming out of a destroyed house under gunfire and lying on the ground. One of the soldiers raised his hands. After that, the occupiers shoot each of the Ukrainian defenders in the back. This happened on March 13, 2025.
The Russian video breaks off at the moment when the soldiers are lying on the ground, still alive.
According to the Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, letters have already been sent to the ICRC and the UN to document the war crime.
The ombudsman also emphasized that the actions of the Russian military violate the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War and international humanitarian law.
“I emphasize that such executions are not an isolated case, but a systemic policy of the Russian Federation, which is encouraged at the highest level. Therefore, it is necessary not just to document such cases, but to investigate them thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice. I would also like to add that I am grateful to foreign journalists who disseminate this information in the media of other countries,” the statement said.
