Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Chisinau on August 27 and met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. The two countries will work to expand cooperation in security, energy and infrastructure.
The Ukrainian president’s visit coincides with Moldova’s Independence Day. Zelenskyy said it was particularly important for neighboring countries to stand together and strengthen each other under the current circumstances.
“Today, Ukraine stands with Moldova on its Independence Day. Friends must stand shoulder to shoulder,” the president said.
Several days earlier, Maia Sandu visited Ukraine and attended events marking Ukrainian Independence Day on August 24.
