President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi to discuss the situation at the front, in particular in the Pokrovsk sector, and the operation in the Kursk region. He said this in a video message.
The Head of State thanked all Ukrainian units that are steadfastly performing combat missions and praised the soldiers of the 225th and 425th assault regiments.
During the meeting, Syrskyi also reported on the modernisation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, a plan to switch to a new organisational structure of the Armed Forces and create a corps system has already been approved. The President emphasised that corps commanders would be appointed among the best-trained officers with combat experience and modern thinking.
‘The army must be modern. And the main thing is to value people,’ Zelenskyy stressed, adding that the relevant personnel decisions would be made public in the near future.
