Zelenskiy: Under Trump’s Presidency, ‘the War Will End Faster’

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported constructive interactions with US President-elect Donald Trump, noting that the Ukrainian side had the opportunity to clearly state its vision for peace.

He stated this in an interview with Suspilne on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian Radio.

‘He [Trump] heard the basis on which we stand. I have not heard anything opposing our position,’ Zelenskiy emphasized.

When asked whether Trump had demanded Ukraine’s participation in negotiations with Russia, Zelenskiy replied: ‘We are an independent country. During this war, both our people and I, in negotiations with the United States, Trump, Biden, and European leaders, proved that the “sit down and listen” approach does not work with us.’

Zelenskiy also mentioned that under the Trump administration, ‘the war will end faster’.

‘A just peace is very important for us, so that there is no feeling that we have lost the best for the sake of an imposed injustice. The war will end, but there is no exact date. Certainly, with the policies of this team that will now lead the White House, the war will end faster. This is their approach, their promise to their society, and it is also very important to them,’ he said.
