Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Russian Shahed strike on a high-rise residential building in Kyiv on October 12, which killed two people, was further proof of the need to increase pressure on Russia. He stressed that Moscow continues launching drone attacks even in response to a US proposal.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in a Telegram post.

“The Russians continue their terror against our people, striking residential buildings and taking lives. In the evening, Russia hit a high-rise building in Kyiv with a Shahed drone,” the president wrote.

Two people are now known to have been killed and nine others injured. Rescuers extinguished the fire.

“This is yet another proof that Russia must face greater pressure. They are the ones continuing brutal strikes. They are the ones prolonging the war,” Zelenskyy said.

The president separately stressed Russia’s response to the US proposal.

“Even now, in response to the American proposal — Shaheds. We expect the United States to see these signals from Russia and act strongly. Strength is needed to force Russia to end this war,” he wrote.
