Vremivka and Lyman: the hottest spots on the frontline – situation as of the morning of 22 December

As of the morning of 22 December 2024, the situation at the front remains extremely difficult. The enemy continues to intensively attack the positions of the Ukrainian military, trying to advance in several key areas, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

The most active areas of fighting

  • Vrembvka direction: The highest number of attacks per day – 47. Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian defences in the areas of Uspenivka, Yantarne, Kostiantynopolske, Novosilka, Blahodatne, as well as in the direction of Rozlyv and Odradne.
  • Pokrovsk direction: The enemy carried out 29 offensive actions near Mirolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Dachenske and Novovasylivka, actively using aviation.
  • Liman sector: Russian proxies conducted 20 attacks, including in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Hrekivka, Nadiya, Terny and Ivanivka.
  • Kurakhove sector: Ukrainian defence forces repelled 15 attacks in the areas of Staryi Terniv, Kurakhove and Dachne.
  • Toretsk sector: The enemy carried out six assault actions in the areas of Toretsk and Druzhba.
  • Kursk region: Ukrainian defenders repelled 41 enemy attempts to push Ukrainian positions.

Other areas.

  • Siversk direction: Russians used aircraft to attack in the direction of Verkhnekamianske and Bilohorivka.
  • Kupyansk sector: Four hostile attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka and Kruhliakivka.
  • Kharkiv sector: Six hostilities near Kozacha Lopan, Vysoka Yaruga and Vovchansk.
  • Orikhiv sector: Seven attacks near Novoandriivka and Pyatikhatky.
  • Prydniprovskyi sector: Five assault actions that failed.

Enemy losses

Over the past day, the Russian army lost:

  • personnel – 1820 people;
  • equipment – 15 tanks, 29 armoured combat vehicles, 32 artillery systems, three air defence systems, 50 drones and 81 vehicles.
