On the night of September 23, Russian forces attacked port and civilian infrastructure in Odesa region. The captain of a commercial cargo vessel, a Ukrainian citizen, was killed in the strike.
This was reported by Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper.
The target of the attack was a vessel flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda. A fire broke out on board after the strike.
The ship’s captain was killed, while the crew members were evacuated. The fire was extinguished.
Russian forces also struck warehouse facilities twice in succession, where medicines, household goods and food products were stored. Firefighting operations at the warehouses lasted several hours.
