President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian army has 880,000 soldiers who are defending the entire country.
He said this after a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“There are currently 600 thousand representatives of the Russian contingent on the territory of our country. As for the Ukrainian army, today it is 880 thousand. But 880 thousand defend the entire territory. Russian troops are concentrated in several areas, so in some areas they have a quantitative advantage,” Zelensky said.
He also emphasized that Ukraine supports the initiative to deploy peacekeepers, although so far it is only about “general things.” The issue is to be discussed with the leader of the United Kingdom, and it has been raised with the Baltic partners. However, the president emphasized that it is necessary to have a “complete map of guarantees” where a foreign military contingent can become part of it.
In addition, security guarantees should include the issue of weapons. According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian production currently covers 33-34% of all weapons, with Europe accounting for about 30% and the United States for about 40%.
