Ukrainian forces struck an oil refinery in Volgograd and the Samara line production and dispatch station on October 2. According to Ukraine’s military intelligence, a large-scale fire broke out at the refinery following the strike.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
The operation involved personnel from the Active Operations Department and the Unmanned Systems Department of Ukraine’s military intelligence, together with other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
One of the targets was the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery. Ukraine’s military intelligence described it as one of the key facilities of Russia’s fuel and energy sector.
According to the intelligence service, the strike caused a large-scale fire at the facility that could be seen from dozens of kilometers away.
Ukrainian forces also struck the Samara line production and dispatch station.
Ukraine’s military intelligence said the facility is one of the key hubs used for the pipeline transportation and storage of Russian oil and petroleum products.
