On the night of September 26, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region. A fire was reported at the facility.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the Ilsky refinery has a total processing capacity of about 6.6 million tonnes of oil per year.
The facility receives, stores and processes hydrocarbon feedstock, as well as produces and ships petroleum products.
The General Staff said the refinery’s products are used, among other purposes, to support the needs of the Russian armed forces.
The military stressed that strikes on such facilities are aimed at reducing Russia’s military and economic potential and constitute the exercise of Ukraine’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
