Ukraine is holding talks with neighboring states on creating joint border checkpoints on their territory because of Russian strikes on Ukrainian checkpoints. Such a format is intended to serve as an alternative and ensure uninterrupted logistics.
This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine, citing First Deputy Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport Serhiy Derkach.
“We are currently working with other countries, with our neighbors, in order to have the possibility — we are talking about an alternative — to move checkpoints to the territory of another country,” Derkach said.
According to him, creating joint checkpoints on the territory of neighboring states would help maintain uninterrupted logistics and speed up the movement of goods through faster border and customs procedures.
Derkach cited Poland, where several joint checkpoints are already operating, as well as Moldova.
Ukraine is currently working on such options with each neighboring country.
