Jet-powered Shahed drones will stop reaching Kyiv when Ukraine has enough high-speed interceptors to build a multi-layered, echeloned defense system.

Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, an adviser to the president on the development of defense technologies, wrote this on Telegram.

On September 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, with the main issue being the acceleration of all processes for the production of high-speed interceptors against jet-powered Shahed drones.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has manufacturers capable of carrying out the task of developing high-speed interceptors. Work is currently underway to bring the new weapon to the required level of effectiveness.

“It is important to complete this task within the set deadlines,” Zelenskyy stressed.

The meeting also discussed the potential involvement of businesses in the production, supply and configuration of certain types of air defense systems.

According to the president, the goal is for Ukraine’s defense industry, together with its partners, to provide a sufficient number of high-speed interceptor drones and inexpensive missiles as Russia increases production of corresponding high-speed attack systems.

Zelenskyy also said that Ukrainian intelligence has clear information about the enemy’s plans and that relevant resources are being directed to counter this threat.

“We will also act asymmetrically. The relevant operations have been approved,” the president added.
