As of 16:00 on 19 April, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to hold back the offensive of Russian troops and prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into the country. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A total of 59 combat engagements took place over the course of the day. The most intense fighting continues in the Pokrovsk, Lyman and Toretsk sectors. In the Pokrovsk sector, 13 assault attempts have been registered – seven of them were repelled, and six more are ongoing. In the Liman sector, the enemy attacked six times, three battles are still ongoing. In the Toretsk area, the occupants launched nine attacks, all of which were repelled.
The enemy also became more active in the Kupyansk sector, where five attacks took place, two of which are still ongoing. Ukrainian troops repelled seven attacks in the Novopavlivka sector and three in the Orikhiv sector. One battle took place near Vovchansk in Kharkiv region.
Settlements in Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions came under artillery and mortar fire. In Sumy region, air strikes were also recorded on the villages of Ryasne, Stepok, Velykyi Prykil and Miropilske.
The operation in the Kursk region continues: Ukrainian forces repelled ten attacks, and two more battles are ongoing. The enemy fired over 190 artillery rounds and carried out ten air strikes using guided aerial bombs.
In other sectors, the situation remains under control, with no significant changes recorded.
