Russian forces attacked energy facilities in ten Ukrainian regions overnight and on the morning of October 17, leaving some consumers without electricity. Power has already been restored to more than 500,000 consumers, but repair work is ongoing.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy reported this.
Russian strikes targeted energy facilities in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi and Kharkiv regions.
The attacks caused disruptions to electricity supplies. Emergency crews are working to repair damaged infrastructure wherever security conditions permit.
The Energy Ministry said restoration efforts are being hampered by frequent air raid alerts and the threat of further Russian strikes.
Meanwhile, grid restrictions caused by previous Russian attacks have led to scheduled hourly power outages in several Ukrainian regions on October 17.
In addition, power consumption restrictions for industrial facilities and businesses are in effect across all regions.
The ministry explained that these measures are necessary to prevent grid overloads and major failures in the power system.
Consumers are advised to check the latest outage schedules on the official websites and information channels of their regional electricity distribution operators.
The Energy Ministry also urged Ukrainians to rely only on verified information about the state of the power system and to avoid sharing materials that could assist Russian forces.
