Russia has already begun an additional mobilisation drive and is increasing the number of people it recruits into the military through various methods. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Moscow also plans to step up the recruitment of foreigners — more than 8,000 North Korean troops are already in Russia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening video address on September 28.
According to him, Russia is increasing recruitment into its armed forces and plans to expand the involvement of citizens of other countries.
“It is important that the governments of the countries from which Russia recruits people into its army counter this. We will inform every government,” the president said.
There is also new information about military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. According to Ukrainian intelligence, more than 8,000 North Korean troops are currently in Russia. In addition, another contingent of about 10,000 troops is being prepared for deployment. Zelenskyy said they are being selected for training and subsequent transfer to Russia.
According to Zelenskyy, Moscow is paying Pyongyang, including with technology. With Russian technical support, production of Shahed-type attack drones has been launched in North Korea.
“We need to counter this. There have not been effective global sanctions against Russia for a long time, and Lindsey Graham’s bill, as well as European Union sanctions and sanctions from around the world, can provide this. It is important that our partners understand that they need to stand with Ukrainians when such things happen and help with concrete packages and concrete decisions so that Ukraine can withstand this and provide help when the time comes,” Zelenskyy said.
