The telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin lasted more than an hour, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said, according to Russian state media.
According to Ushakov, Trump once again stressed the need to end the fighting in Ukraine as soon as possible. In response, Putin said that Russia would not back down from its goals of eliminating the ‘causes of the conflict.’
In addition, Putin informed Trump about the progress of the Istanbul agreements. The only result of these agreements was a large exchange of prisoners and the bodies of the dead.
The topic of a personal meeting between the presidents was not discussed, but, according to Ushakov, further calls and communication will take place as needed.
The issue of stopping the supply of American weapons to Ukraine was also not raised during the conversation.
