Poland has proposed hosting a plant to produce Patriot missiles if such a project is planned for Ukraine. Warsaw said the aim would be to locate the production facility in a “safe territory.”
This was reported by RMF24, citing Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defence Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka.
Commenting on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement that Donald Trump had decided to provide Ukraine with licenses to produce Patriot missiles, Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said it remained to be seen whether the decision would be implemented.
“We submitted a proposal that if such a plant is planned to be built in Ukraine, we suggest building it in Poland so that it would be located in a so-called safe territory,” she said.
At the same time, the deputy minister said Poland’s talks on establishing a service center and, later, Patriot production are a separate process and do not depend on a decision concerning Ukraine.
According to her, officials in Washington confirmed that even if such a decision is made regarding Ukraine, it would not affect Poland’s efforts or rule out approval for Poland.
