On the night of September 8 and into the morning, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with drones and ballistic missiles. Two people were killed and seven others were injured in the strikes.

According to the KCMA, debris fell on a five-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district, while a three-story residential building was damaged at another location. A fire broke out in a warehouse. In the Darnytskyi district, a car was damaged by falling debris. In the Podilskyi district, garages, vehicles and a warehouse caught fire.
As of 6:30 a.m., two people were reported killed and seven injured.
According to the State Emergency Service, damage and fires were reported in at least five districts of Kyiv as a result of the overnight attack. Rescuers managed to save 13 people.
In the Holosiivskyi district, a 26-story non-residential building was damaged, and a fire broke out in a garage, spreading to a nearby non-residential building and business center. Rescuers also evacuated two people from an apartment in a 16-story residential building after they became trapped due to damage caused by the blast wave.
In the Solomianskyi district, people were trapped inside a five-story residential building, and 10 people were rescued. A garage caught fire in the Darnytskyi district, while a warehouse, vehicles and garage units burned in the Podilskyi district. In the Dniprovskyi district, rescuers were extinguishing a fire in garages.
