In Chernihiv detains Russian agent who planned murders of Ukrainian soldiers

A 45-year-old Russian military intelligence agent who was engaged in fire adjustment and arson attacks was detained in Chernihiv.

The man considered his activities to be preparatory tasks, hoping to later receive instructions to eliminate the Ukrainian military, the SBU reports.

The agent was a local resident, an ideological supporter of Russian aggression. The occupiers found him because of his pro-Russian comments on Telegram. He was first tasked with setting fire to a military vehicle and a transformer substation in Chernihiv.

Subsequently, the attacker began to adjust Russian strikes on the northern region by renting apartments with panoramic views of defense and civilian facilities.

Of particular interest to the occupiers were the repair bases of the Armed Forces and hospitals where wounded soldiers were treated.

Later, the agent informed his supervisor about his readiness to physically eliminate Ukrainian soldiers, planning to use improvised explosive devices or kamikaze drones.

During the searches, the detainee’s phone and computer, which he used to communicate with the GRU, were seized.

The agent is currently in custody and could face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
