A plant in Izhevsk was attacked by a drone on the night of 17 November, Udmurtia’s head of state Alexander Brechalov said. ‘Glass was smashed in the production facility, but there was no serious damage. The staff has been evacuated,’ Brechalov wrote in a telegram.
‘Unfortunately, one person was injured,’ the head of the region said, adding that doctors assessed the injured person’s condition as moderate.
Brechalov did not specify what the hit company does, only giving the address of the plant: 101 Lenina Street. This is the address of the Kupol machine-building plant.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council’s Centre for Countering Disinformation, said that Kupol produces “Tor” anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations and other military products.
This is the first drone strike on Izhevsk and Udmurtia in general that has been officially reported by the authorities.
