A new interceptor designed to counter Russian jet-powered drones has successfully passed a test. During the test, it struck a Shahed drone, but some aspects of its control system still require refinement.
This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi briefed the president on the test.
“There has been a successful test of another interceptor against Russian jet-powered drones. A Shahed was successfully hit, but some aspects of controlling the interceptor still need to be refined. We are continuing the work — more time is needed,” Zelenskyy wrote.
The president also said that further military operations and Ukraine’s long-range capabilities were discussed during the briefing. Together with Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they identified the next priority targets, the required amount of resources, and preparatory measures.
Zelenskyy noted that the results of long-range strikes against Russia’s oil base for the war are “quite significant” and add necessary potential to diplomacy.
“Ukraine is ready to take its de-escalation steps, but our partners must ensure Russia’s honesty in implementing its de-escalation steps regarding our critical infrastructure — in a long-term and reliable manner,” the president concluded.
