Despite the lifting of the ban on strikes with Western weapons deep into Russian territory, Ukraine has only its own means capable of hitting targets at a distance of 2500 km.
This was explained by Defense Express editor-in-chief and military expert Oleh Katkov, Espresso reports.
“Today, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that yesterday the Defense Forces conducted a precision strike on the control center of one of the Russian army units near the village of Novoivanivka. And if we are talking about lifting the ban on strikes on enemy territory, we are talking about inhumane conditions – our partners forbade us to strike on Russian territory. I have never heard of our partners forbidding Russia to strike at the territory of Ukraine,” Katkov said.
The expert emphasized that the restrictions with which the Ukrainian military were forced to conduct combat operations were inhuman. According to him, they should have been canceled immediately, because they had no right to exist at all. The military had to resist the enemy’s superior forces under additional restrictions, which, in the expert’s opinion, was unfair. Katkov noted that Ukraine has only domestically produced weapons capable of hitting targets on enemy territory at a distance of 2,500 kilometers.
“The situation with restrictions on the use of Western weapons to strike at the territory of the Russian Federation has indeed changed in a positive way. Previously, we were forbidden to carry out such strikes at all. Now we are operating without restrictions not only in the Kursk region, but the entire territory of the Russian Federation. However, the question remains about the range of these strikes. Russia has the means to strike deep into the entire territory of Ukraine. We have only our own means, which have a range of up to 2500 km, and it is important to note that we are talking about drones, not missiles. That is, we have no Western-made weapons capable of striking at such distances,” the expert explained.
