Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Carpathian macro-region is presenting itself for the first time as a single market with a single investment portfolio. More than 50 agreements worth over €1 billion have been prepared for signing.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a speech at the international economic forum “Carpathian Integration Initiative.”

About half of the investment portfolio is focused on energy. This includes solar and wind power, energy storage, new interconnectors and underground gas storage facilities.

Zelenskyy also announced a proposal to create a Carpathian wind energy cluster with a capacity of 1.5 GW.

“The Carpathians can become an energy supplier for the European Union, not just a transit region,” the president said.

According to him, this also supports Europe’s goal of energy independence from Russia.
