        At least 45,000 men have illegally left Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion

        Since the start of the full-scale invasion, at least 44,900 citizens have illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine. Nearly 30,000 more men were detained while attempting to cross illegally.

        This was reported by MP Yulia Yatsyk following a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigation Commission, citing data from the State Border Service.

        According to her, men are trying to leave Ukraine by various means. The most common are:

        • using forged documents (medical certificates, status of a parent with many children, student, etc.);
        • crossing the border outside checkpoints;
        • using passports of other countries;
        • leaving through the ‘Shlyakh’ system under the guise of transporters of medical or humanitarian cargo;
        • on the basis of letters from state and law enforcement agencies to the State Border Service

        It is noted separately that some people left the country legally but did not return on time. No accurate data on this category is available.
